I am safe
Welcome to the second meditation in this Mini Somatic Series exploring the body’s innate capacity to find safety within the present moment.
Once the nervous system has begun to orient and recognise where you are, it will automatically ask another important question:
Am I safe right now?
The challenge is that when the nervous system perceives even a small amount of threat, it automatically moves into protection.
Many people I work with have spent so long in states of survival that vigilance, bracing and overwhelm have become their baseline. The body learns to stay prepared, even when there is no immediate danger, making it difficult to recognise and receive cues of safety in the present moment.
This practice is an invitation to notice what is supporting you in this moment, so we can return to a felt sense of safety.
Safety is not something we force, or even tell ourselves to feel.
It is something the body gradually discovers through experience.
As you practise, allow yourself to become curious about the signals of safety already available to you. The more clearly the nervous system can receive these cues, the more permission it has to soften, settle and restore.
This is an invitation for your body to remember what safety feels like.
I invite you to return to this micro-moment of regulation whenever you need!
Want to Go Deeper?
If you’re feeling drawn to this work and want to learn how to support the body and nervous system intentionally, application is open for my upcoming training in September.
This training is designed for practitioners, space holders, and curious humans who want to deepen their understanding of somatics, nervous system regulation, embodiment and working with the wisdom of the body.
Inside the 150h training, you’ll learn how to:
• Understand trauma through the lens of the body
• Guide clients safely through regulation and emotional release practices
• Build confidence structuring trauma-informed sequences
• Hold spaces that feel safe and deeply transformative
• Integrate somatic tools into your existing work or begin a new path entirely
“This training should be considered essential, not just for yoga teachers and bodyworkers, but for anyone because this is the most impactful and vital work you can ever do on yourself!“
– Laura, Yoga Teacher
